Something more.
Something more than this life.
A haunting possibility.
A fleeting shadow.

But also a spark,
Lost in gloom.
A sweet memory,
Of I know not what.

My heart leaps up.
I catch my breath.
I can’t reach.
Dare I hope?

More than grey twilight?
Wearisome existence.
Unending cycle.
Strange pain.

Yet such a hope.
Such a yearning.
Such a secret.
Dare I even speak it?

She speaks softly.
Hidden.
Maybe, in time,
Manifest.

A child, a boy.
Something more.
Night descends.
Dare I hope in a dawn?
